
Meet Judge Martha Reeves Cook

Judge Martha Reeves Cook has served the people of Jefferson County as a District Court Judge since April 2019.
Before becoming a judge, Judge Cook practiced law and mediated cases for over 20 years. She specialized in litigating business disputes, and representing clients in real estate matters, personal injury cases, and consumer rights actions. As a mediator, Judge Cook helped parties resolve financial, real estate, and personal injury disputes.
A proven leader in the legal profession, Judge Cook has chaired the Birmingham Bar Association’s Diversity and Inclusivity Committee and the Alabama State Bar’s Dispute Resolution Section. She has also served on the executive boards for both the State and Birmingham Bar Association Women’s Sections.
Judge Cook proudly serves as a member of the Alabama Supreme Court Dispute Resolution Commission.
A native of Selma, Alabama, Judge Cook received her undergraduate degree from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College and her law degree from Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law.
She is a proud mother of two sons.
